The Best Fantasy Music
Many authors will tell you that music plays a big role in inspiring creativity and helping with getting into the groove of writing. As a fantasy author there is a lot of amazing music out there to choose from so in this piece, I thought I’d list my top five favourite pieces of fantasy music.
Bear McCreary - God of War
The main theme for possibly one of the greatest fantasy inspired video games of all time has to make my top five list. Just listen to it and it’ll put you into an epic brutal world of Norse mythology. Whenever I’m about to write a particularly rough fight scene I’ll put in my headphones and blast this out.
Lord of The Rings: Rohan Theme (Rohirrim Charge) | EPIC VERSION
Samuel Kim is probably one of my favourite composers on Youtube at the moment and his covers of famous soundtracks are incredible. This one, however, is doubly great as the ride of the Rohirrim is already one of my favourite pieces of music of all time so this epic version mixed by Kim is doubly pleasing for the ears.
Wake the White Wolf by Miracle of Sound
The Witcher series of books are some of my favourite fantasy novels and the video games are easily up there as some of the best ever made too. This piece of original music by Miracle of Sound takes inspiration from both and creates a great piece of music that I often listen to when I want to get into the writing mood.
Dragon Age Inquisition Main Theme
Yep, it’s another video game theme and this one really gets the heart pumping when it kicks in. While the game it’s used for was mediocre at best in my opinion there’s no denying that the soundtrack is pretty great.
Afterlife by Ivan Torrent
One of my favourite pieces of music in any genre Afterlife just inspires me anytime I listen to it. I highly recommend Ivan Torrent to anyone who is a fan of epic and stirring music and his tracks are really great to listen to while writing.
