Hi Stjepan tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to write?

I was born in Split, Croatia on September 12, 1965. I was drawn to writing because I loved to read a lot, so I wrote my first poem at the age of fourteen. I liked that and so I started writing poetry first. Over time, I started writing science fiction, and fairy tales because I loved the genre.

What appeals to you most about the sci-fi genre?

Jules Verne was the first science fiction writer I read as a child and I immediately fell in love with his books and the genre. Over time, I began to read more and more famous authors such as Clark, Asimov, etc.

Tell us a little bit about your latest project and the challenges you’ve faced putting it all together?

I just finished my new SF Novella “2025”. The genre of my book is Dooms Day Apocalyptic. My book pre-order has started today and will be published on May 26th. I’ve been writing it since the first month of this year I got the initial idea. I thought it would be a short story up to a max of 5,000 words, and in the end, it has 22,000 words. The worst thing for me was that I had a blockage in the second and third months, and I didn’t write a word.

What type of characters do you like to write the most and how much of yourself do you put into them?

My character type depends on the kind of book, but most are strong characters, although that's not how they look. There is a small part of me in each of my characters.

For any wannabe writers out there what’s the most useful thing you’ve learned?

You should write when you have an idea because it is very easy to lose an idea if you don't write it down. Even some hints of ideas can be a book at the end.

What writing tricks do you utilise to hit your deadlines and keep your stories on track?

Luckily I'm an indie writer, and I don't have a deadline, but when I start writing, I want to finish the book as soon as possible, but sometimes it doesn't go exactly according to plan because life has its rules.

Are you a plotter or a pantser (make it up as you go)?

I am a hybrid somewhere in between. I never know where writing will take me when I start with an initial idea.

What plans do you have for the future? A new series or perhaps a dip into other genres?

I plan to finish the second part of the Godeena codex series, and I have written about 70,000 words so far. The book is called Kirs Fury. If everything is OK by the summer, I could finish it.

What’s better, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars?

Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter is my order of books but also movies
