The Devil Walks in Blood by David Green

Having read the Prequel to this series, I found myself wanting to read more of the Nick Holleran series right away. This one includes Dead Man Walking, which was a first novellette and The Devil Walks in Blood in a special edition.

Some of Nick Holleran’s history is repeated in these and the Prequel, but his near death and brush with the hereafter is relevant to all of the stories.

Nick is a P.I., but since his shooting he can see supernatural beings and no longer takes ordinary cases. His adventures take us through ghosts, Angels, well, Nephilim, and various creatures from Hell, even Lucifer himself.

This one focuses on a woman in distress because her dead husband is stalking her and the sudden awakening of a tormented child ghost who lurks in the corner of his office, who wants to bring her killer to justice.

Of course things aren’t always as they seem in the supernatural world and there are some unpleasant surprises for Nick to discover as he continues to learn about this strange world he now inhabits.

The action is fast and rivetting through most of the book. The supernatural beings can be surprising in their behaviours and the power a human can wield with the right knowledge is not to be underestimated.

The book held my attention all through and I’ve already started the next book, One Life Left.

Highly recommended!
